Graceful Barbarians

I’ve spent some time, last night and this morning, adding photos to the “Women of C3″ album page. As I have been looking at the photos, I have been inspired and have often become emotional about what I see - and what it represents…

Because I’m on the platform in both services just about every week, I rarely get to see what’s going on in the other services and all of the other places that work is being done (ie: the lobby, the nursery, Powerhouse, etc.). I know how much work goes into doing all that we do every weekend, but seeing the faces and the heart behind the work really moved me.

All that my C3 sisters do, how they love, how they serve - their passion and heart for God, for others, for C3 - it all inspires, moves and humbles me.

I love these women…these Graceful Barbarians - I love them and I thank them for being…

gracefully brave in the fight for love.

They know, as I do, that…

Love Wins - Always.

Look at the faces of the ones who are learning from us, and tell me it’s not worth it! :-)

beautiful little barbarians in training

Beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

Thank you all - C U At C3!

Peace.

Okay, so I’ve been dancing around my bedroom listening to this…

Is there any more dorky yet fun kind of dancing than the early eighties “bop” with your arms waving around like Molly Ringwald in “Sixteen Candles”?!

It makes me so happy!

Peace.

T.G.I.F.

It is Friday, isn’t it? It seems like this week has kind of gotten away from me… But the sun is finally shining today, so I’m happy! :-)
I heard an eighties song this morning and I was thinking about that time period - when music videos first came out and everything seemed so “techno”. I was into looking kind of “new wave” with bleached out hair, a single earing bigger than my fist, and a “CHOOSE LIFE” t-shirt worn with my Bongo jeans.

I remember sitting in the movie theater and a music video came on during the previews - I thought it was so cool. I thought we could never become more technologically advanced as it was in that moment…

…then my mom bought this new toothpaste called Aquafresh! It had three colors!! I thought it was like voodoo…seriously!I don’t know why I’m so easily distracted by the aesthetic…

I spent about 15 minutes this morning staring at a tree.

Byron had run into Kinkos, and there was a beautiful John Mayer song on the radio, and the tree outside my window was bright red and green…fabulous. I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. It was Aquafresh all over again!

I need to find that music video on Youtube.

I need to get my hands on another CHOOSE LIFE t-shirt!

I need to buy some Aquafresh…

P. S. - Remember how, in the eighties, a guy could sing a depressing song like “Always Something There to Remind Me”, but it seemed happy because of the techno keyboarding?

Anyway, Thank Goodness It’s Friday. :-)
Peace. (p.s.s: choose life! :-) )

Addendum

So, evidently my earlier experience with Wal-Mart didn’t suffice for the day.

Byron decided he wanted to go to BJ’s Wholesale - it’s important to include the full title of the store as a reminder of how stinkin’ HUGE it really is. But, they have big amounts of…stuff cheap. So, off we went.

It’s important to mention that I had gone all day without eating much of anything - and being hypoglycemic this is not optimal (As Madea says, “I’m diabetical - I gots to eat!!). So, I had just fixed a mug full of chicken noodle soup.

This is where the story begins to go awry…we just didn’t know it.

Unfortunately, since we don’t live very far from BJ’s and it was extremely hot, the soup did not get completely or even half-way eaten by the time we pulled into the parking lot. As we were getting out, I set the huge mug on the console between the seats - I remember thinking, “Wow, I better not forget that this honkin’ mug of hot soup is sitting here…”

Did I mention I have blood sugar issues? And one of the first things to go is my memory.

So, after a fun-filled frolic through the Mac Daddy of all the buy-in-bulk stores, we got back to the car. Now I’m even more “diabetical” and light-headed. So…

…well, let’s just say that in the few moments that it took for Byron to put the cart in the cart-return, I was trying to wipe up 20 ounces of hot chicken noodle soup out of his leather seat…with a single napkin. It didn’t work out very well…

So, if we hadn’t had a very sandy beach towel and an extra blanket in the trunk…well, it would have been an even more interesting ride home than it already was…

…I just kept thinking, “Well, at least we now have a boat-load of paper towels and wash cloths at home after my earlier trip to Wal-Mart!” But, I kept my thoughts to myself as I didn’t think it was the appropriate time to start a sentence with, “At least…”

I do think we’re done with discount shopping for the day.

At least we didn’t go all the way to Ikea! :-)

Peace out.
