When it’s Monday, it’s hard to blog. Most Mondays it’s hard to put together a coherent sentence. But, funny things…randomly funny - and maybe not funny to anyone else - seem to happen on Mondays.
For instance:
- After the “cold snap” last night, Byron woke up saying, “I probably should go and check the bird’s nest…” - What have I done to him?
- I put Ashley in a quandary this morning because I made her lunch (which she really wanted), but I was out of lunch bags, so I put it in an Ann Taylor shopping bag (which she really didn’t want)…
- Ethan was walking behind me when we were coming in from school - giggling. Apparently, he was imitating how I walk….swinging his hips - I said, “I wasn’t walking like that!”, to which Byron and Nate busted out laughing and said Ethan had done “me” perfectly…nice!
I’m sure there will be more before the day’s over…it is Monday, after all!
Peace.
What a nice day.
And now we’re having a little “cold” snap!! The ten-day forecast for O’Town puts little notes next to the projected weather (like if it’s going to be really cold, it might say “don’t forget to protect your plants”), and next to Wednesday’s forecast of “73/54 and sunny” it said “plan a scenic drive!”
.
I think it’s awesome that the weather channel wants me to get more in touch with nature!
Church this morning was great. I appreciate the commitment of all the C3ers even more when it’s a beautiful spring day, like today.
Lauren was in church today, too!
So, now it’s in the sixties and I’m pretty much freezing!! Oh well, as long as it doesn’t get cold enough to affect my plants or my birds, I’m good…I can always just put on some wool socks! It’s just a good excuse to drink some hot chocolate and put on a fuzzy sweater.
Anyway, it was a beautiful Sunday.
Peace.
So, I loved this title so much the first time I used it that I thought I would use it again… …the trouble is, I’ve got nothing else - no blog…no witty banter…just a cute title. Nothing else. Zip. Zilch. Nada… Maybe I should just wait until next Saturday to blog…surely something blog-worthy will happen between now and then… Oh well, I can just name that blog “Saturday in the Park, part three”! Maybe it will turn into a tradition.
UPDATE:
So, Byron just found the nest!!!
I’m assuming it’s my little pair of red birds’!!!
I can’t wait to see the little baby birds!!!!
Yea! Now I have a reason to post this blog and use my cute title! Yea!
Happy Saturday.
Peace out.
So, “Wednesday” (my little red bird) has a girlfriend. I was wondering since cardinals usually are in pairs. I finally saw her this morning being coy and flirtatious and hiding from him in the bushes.
So I guess I’ll just have to name her “Happy”. I hope they build a nest nearby. I’ve really got to get some more songbird seed….
We had dinner last night with our good friends Bill and Patti. At one point, we were talking about the little things that we can think about to remind ourselves that God hasn’t forgotten us. Of course, there are countless big blessings that I can think about - like four healthy children - but, for me, it’s in the little things that I often hear God whisper the loudest.
My little red bird (birds) are like that for me. They remind me that God knows where I am. I can move or transition…or change - I can be in harmony or in despair, and He sees me. He sends little reminders like a tiny little red bird…or a breathtaking evening sky to let me know that He hasn’t forgotten what makes me feel at home…safe.
You may think it’s silly that two little birds make me think of such grand things, but that’s okay…God gets me.
“Happy” and “Wednesday” seem to get me too. So I’m good.
And no matter what craziness is going on around me, I can hear a bird sing, or look at the sky, or see one of my kids smile, and know that God is listening…and He’s whispering too.
That gives me…
peace.
