Through My Lens…

…here’s a little bit of what I saw:

Back in the saddle again…

…that’s all I’ve got today: a catchy title - well, at least that’s something. I just really want to blog since I couldn’t while I was away, but I can’t think of anything to write about…

…that’s nothing new for a Tuesday.

I’m going to work on my photos from the trip today. I’m not sure why I enjoy taking pictures of nature so much. It just speaks to me. I’m not very good at photos of people…maybe I should take a class.

The view from The Biltmore House was breathtaking…it was very foggy though, so my pictures don’t do it justice. It’s hard to imagine that people really lived there. It’s so incredibly sad to me that George Vanderbilt spent so many years building that house for his bride, and then only lived for one year after it was completed. His wife, Edith, must have walked through the gardens (holding little Cornelia’s hand) and looked at the view…and missed him terribly.

…but I digress. (Which is also nothing new for a Tuesday). I think I just need to go work out, spend some time with my kids…and laugh. Oh yeah, and do a boat-load of laundry…

Sounds like a good plan for a “back in the saddle again” Tuesday…

Peace.

A Lovely Whirlwind…

How come riding in the car is so exhausting????? Then, I walk in the door and just want to sit down….again - even though I’ve been sitting for hours!!!!!! Maybe I know I need to rest up for all the working out I’m going to have to do to make up for my “indiscretions” while I was away…..

I really wasn’t that bad…except for a little ice cream, wedding cake, cake at the Biltmore House (Hey, someone should celebrate how HUGE that castle is…so, I elected myself! :-) )….and I’m sure a few more things I’m forgetting.

It’s just so hard to be good when you’re eating every meal “out”. Oh well, I’m home now…so no more excuses.

The wedding was beautiful and sweet - Emily, you looked divine! Our “tree house” cabin in the woods was adorable, and our trip to The Biltmore House was fun and very memorable. I took so many pictures, especially in the gardens, that it really is quite ridiculous….my family was so patient with me….

I’m also thinking about taking up painting. Byron seems to think I might enjoy it…I find it hard to believe that he would want to encourage another possible obsession. Maybe I’ll paint some pictures (something tells me they will be rather “abstract” to say the least…), write some poetry, take some photographs and put them all in my little shop that I want to open someday. Oh yeah, it would have lots of scented candles and rose water…and lavender/vanilla scented water too. So, I’ll have to grow lots of roses and lavender…..

Wow! I better get busy…I’ve got a ton to do. :-)
Anyway, our trip was a lovely whirlwind, but I am glad to be home.

Peace.

Where am I?

…somewhere in Georgia. Anyway, Happy Wednesday…and Happy Birthday, Andrea! :-) I’m more than bummed to miss your party tonight, but know you will have a blast!

We just realized that we may not have Internet where we’re staying, so I thought I should blog while the bloggin’s good.

I didn’t get to go to Yoga again today because they changed the time for the summer! It’s like someone really doesn’t want my inner chi to become centered!! But, Andrea and I got in on a stretching class and also hit the treadmills - so I was able to at least burn off my “Morning Glories” breakfast - which wasn’t too difficult since there are about 2 things I can eat there now…but I digress.

We actually left ahead of schedule today…I don’t think we’ve ever done that before…ever! Must be because it’s Happy Wednesday! There were a few tense moments while cramming packing the truck, but I just took a sip of green tea and told myself (in a very serene voice)…, “It’s Happy Wednesday…so I won’t get stressed no matter what” - it didn’t work that well, but at least we all got out of the driveway in one piece.

Anyway, alot has been crammed into this “Happy Wednesday” already, so I think it’s time for a little more green tea…and relaxation.

Oh yeah, and we made it here without going through a single drive-thru or breaking my diet at all. We even ran to the store and I picked out stuff to make a phenom salad in our hotel room…it’s not easy to prepare food in a hotel room - but It’s Happy Wednesday so I gave it my best shot!

My phenom salad recipe:

  • spinach leaves, baby field greens, and shredded brocolli, carrots and cabbage.
  • avocado (peeled and cut up with a plastic knife)
  • pecans
  • sliced chicken breast from the deli
  • olive oil
  • feta cheese crumbles

It was wonderful…but, it didn’t smell very good - at least not as good as the boy’s microwave pizzas and dark red grapes. (I was having bad thoughts, I must confess).

I guess necessity is the mother of invention. I wonder what I’ll do about breakfast? Maybe more chicken and spinach…or maybe not. We’ll see…

This hotel also has a small workout room. I should probably go…but that would just cut into my bath time…and then I’d be grumpy. So, in the interest of my family, I’ll just relax - it’s for the children…

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Birthday, Andrea!

Peace.
