Just one of those days…

i had one of those days today…

you know, the ones where nothing seems to go right.  i just wanted 15 minutes more sleep this morning - which turned into 30…

…and i think i’ve been trying, all day, to get that time back.

then, even racing down the 408 didn’t get me to my appointment on time - good thing i’m kind of like a race car driver! :-) - once i hit I-4, it was all downhill….actually, more like a parking lot…

since our refrigerator broke just before we left town - and, of course, we didn’t realize it wasn’t working until everything in it was room temp….

anyway, so i had to make another marathon trip to wal-mart.

i think half the known continent did too…..

then, i chose very unwisely when picking out a basket….of course, i didn’t realize how unwisely until the basket was piled so high that things were toppling out.  it didn’t want to go in a straight line…or to the right…or forward.

so, i was relegated to pulling the basket down the aisle and saying, “excuse me” and “i’m so sorry”…A LOT!

and, of course, the one thing that i desperately needed was on the opposite side of the store from where i was wrestling my basket….and then the other thing that i desperately needed was on the other side…again - i played this game for a while until i lost the desire to live much less my desperate need for whatever it was i desperately needed when i pulled into the parking lot….

then, at the check-out, i decided to resort to the 2 for $1.00 “hot” peanuts next to the register since i hadn’t eaten in….well, yet….and it was 2:00 pm.  of course, when i wondered to myself what that thunderous noise was and realized it was a repeat of the DELUGE, i decided to buy 2 cheeseburgers at the wal-mart mcdonalds and wait out the rain….

but, my basket didn’t want to go into the mcdonalds….so, i just gave up and dragged the cart through the parking lot and the torrential downpour…at which point i still had to unload said basket…in the torrential downpour - whilst an SUV with it’s blinker on metaphorically tapped it’s foot at me while i unloaded said broken basket in said torrential downpour…

and while they did have “hot” peanuts at the check-out, they did not have an umbrella…not that i could’ve held it anyway….

so….

but, my day did make me thankful:

  • thankful for LARGE sunglasses
  • thankful for starbucks
  • thankful for friends that call
  • thankful that i didn’t wear any hairspray
  • thankful for ponytails
  • thankful for husbands who recognize “certain expressions” and unload said trunk - quickly….without saying, “wow! what happened to you?!”
  • thankful that my boys act like it’s christmas morning over getting a book called “dairy of a wimpy kid”
  • thankful that, for all my dramatics, the rain did stop - and nothing really suffered except for my pride…and maybe my yellow box flip-flops with the cool fake diamonds on top
  • thankful for flip-flops with cool fake diamonds on top…..even if they Rest in Peace….
  • thankful for pork chops…bought in bulk: 25min. - BBQ sauce - yummy.
  • thankful for that 25 minutes….

So, it was just one of those days, but I can still choose to be thankful…

…oh yeah, and if you happened to be a said Wal-mart today:

Your welcome…for the comic relief!  :-)

Peace to the out!

Wow, i can so relate! Hope your week ahead is full of more awesome cool stuff and joys to be thankful for though. Maybe it will be smoother. Certainly thankful for the prices at walmart, but the sanity at target–although you can find some great prices at “the ball” —this is what our 21 month old calls Target! LOL! I am thankful there is a Starbucks in our Target. So is he, he loves to sip on mommies chai ;-)
