When I Grow Up….

…I want to be just like my kids!

They are each great in their own unique way…each having their own…WONDERFUL-NESS!

And our oldest, Kayleigh, has definitely been paving the way for 19 years now!  Happy Birthday, Kaygee-Hanners!!

picture-123 I’m so glad you were born! :-)

I love how passionate and mature you are - and I love that even though you’re highly driven and intelligent (working, volunteering, and keeping up your scholarship), you still have a “lighter side”……..a…….blond-er side!

Like, yesterday, when I was complaining about my injured finger and you said,

“Mom, maybe you should go see one of those doctors: you know, an ANTHROPEDIATRISIST: the ear, eye and….

(Me:)  “….and finger doctor?? - yes, Kayleigh, I believe that would be exactly what I would need!!”

And, yet, you’re doing so well in pre-calculus!!

Sorry about the whole blonde gene thing….just embrace it…..!

I have always tried to encourage it, I’m afraid - like when you were 2 1/2 and you sang the ABC’s:

“ABCDEFG-lellow-mellow-B…R!!”

and I said, “Yay, Kayleigh…that was sooooo good!!!”

I hope your year is full of as much joy as you bring to everyone who knows you.  You are wonderful to me - truly, a gift from God!

I love you…

Happy, happy birthday, Kayleigh!

Love, Mom

If You Pray….

….then please remember my grandmother…my “Oma”, about whom I wrote HERE.

My Oma, Johanna, will be having open heart surgery on Saturday morning.

Please pray for her!  It really means alot to me…to all of us who love her.

Thank you so much!

Peace to you all.

It is coming!!

(I wrote this yesterday, but am just now posting it…..sorry…whatev’, I’m a girl - I can procrastinate if I want to!)

It’s Friday….Good Friday….

and, of course, I’m thinking today about Christ’s sacrifice….about the love of our Heavenly Father….about grace.

But I’m also thinking about how the disciples must have felt….about now, 2 thousand years ago.  Jesus had already died….He was gone.  And now what?

Some were hiding, all were grieving…

It was Friday and they didn’t really understand that Sunday - the Resurrection - was coming.  All they knew was that their hopes…their dreams…..their passion….had seemingly died right in front of their eyes.  Devastation….

picture-1131

Miraculous, marvelous resurrection power just around the corner….but still, it was Friday - late afternoon….and all seemed hopeless and lost.

Now, today, we have the advantage….the luxury of being on the other side of the story - we know how it ends…

But, still, it can feel like it’s just Friday….perpetually Friday….and Sunday can seem so far.

Will it come….Sunday?…..Easter?……all that we hope for……?

picture-117

Yes, it will come!

He has already defeated everything that still tries to defeat us every day…..all the things that cause us to feel that it’s still Friday…that Sunday will never come.

He’s already won - already risen! I guess I just needed to remember that…today, on this Friday:

That Sunday is just around the corner…

Thank you, Jesus, for making that so!!

Peace and a Happy, Happy Easter to you all.
