Just another WordPress weblog
So, the last time I hiked the “Lookout Mountain” trail in Montreat, NC, I was 17…
We had spent Christmas with my grandparents, and decided to “see the sights”. I don’t remember feeling too taxed by the hike, but I had been a cheerleader and on the track team….at a boarding school in North Carolina, where I often ran through the mountains…..
….I have a picture of myself standing at the top…confidently….not seemingly winded at all. (I need to find that pic….)
And then there was today….
(Forgive the shakiness of the video…as I was somewhat dizzy & hypoglycemic….)
…at one point my glasses fell off my head and as I searched for them among the rocks, while trying not to fall over a cliff, my youngest child said, “Can’t we just leave Mom and go on down the mountain?”……..sigh.
But, I did make it up…….and back down - even if just barely! And I got some pretty pics, too.
And then we all went to a nearby creek to cool off…..
Here’s some video of that, since the other…..well, I’m just not ready to show that film yet…..it’s too soon!
Peace.
So, I’m on day 5 of my “Detox”…….
Here’s the progression:
Here’s where I am now:
So, there you go…
It’s a crazy life - but it’s mine…wait, that sounds like a certain show with a ton of kids… - no, I’m sticking with it since dealing with ONE of me is similar to dealing with EIGHT of them!!
Peace…
I went running tonight. Well, actually, running/walking…actually, running/walking/weaving/heaving/trying not to hurl….ing…
I think I’m in trouble. I think that 5K is going to be…well, a catastrophe. Maybe I could go ahead and schedule the flu…or getting Ecoli. It could happen, I eat a lot of spinach!!
I think the problem is that I was made for sprinting…like the 100 yard dash! Whatever happened to the 100 yard dash? Now there’s a sport I could really train for! I still think I should start my own “K”…the 1/4 K (and if the font is leading you astray, that’s NOT a single 4K, but one-fourth of a K!). Seriously, I think it could be the next big thing!
I think I need to go eat some spinach…just in case! I DO feel quite flu-like, but I better save it for a couple of weeks…otherwise I’ll “recover” too soon…just in time for the…you-know-what.
Okay, so Survivor Man is eating raw seal meat…now I really feel “flu-like”. At least he doesn’t have to run a 5K!!!! Wimp! But I digress…
It’s Friday night…don’t most couples go out to a nice dinner on Friday night? Our “date” included Byron saying inane things like “Just a little further!” and “You can do it” and things like that…some nerve! He did say that I looked cute in my running outfit…so I guess I’ll forgive him. ![]()
Anyway, so I think I’m bringing lazy back into fashion…
Seriously!
Peace.
