Got Junk?

….and I don’t mean “in the trunk”….but I digress!

So, I’m going through the house…and GARAGE (there really should be some kind of WARNING signs on the door)

- anyway, I’m going through my junk trying to find things to sell at the yard sale on Saturday….

If you’ve checked out “The Women of C3″ site, then you know I plan to sell everything I can get my hands on at the Avalon Park Yard Sale this Saturday (Oct. 4th / 8am to noon) with all the proceeds going to aid the family that is moving here from Cuba. (Read previous blog).

Anyway, if any of you have junk…..stuff……whatever that you would like for me to “move” for you, please let me know.  I’d be happy to unload your junk and it will help me help others in the process - IT’S A WIN/WIN!

So, just give me a holler if you want to get rid of your junk…

….no promises when it comes to the “in the trunk” kind, I’ve got my own issues there…

…but I digress!

Peace out.

Monday Musings…

It’s the first day of fall!  Welcome Autumn, I love you so….

I love all the trappings of Fall…

I’m having “fun” speed cleaning…which just means I clean like a whirlwind…for a minute, then I stop and do something else for a minute….then back to cleaning…..etc….

This never worked when my kids were home all day.  Just when I would tackle one problem area…they would (mainly the boys, of course) create a whole new “problem area”…it was a vicious cycle!

But, today I’m letting little things make me happy…

…the smell of Pledge and Windex…the fact that I don’t have to wear any makeup…..and beautiful pics of mountain flowers…

So, that’s my Monday plan….

peace out…

Peace to the out...dog!

Peace to the out...dog!

The Remains of the Day

What a beautiful day.

C3 Day at Moss Park was wonderful! I’m too tired to properly express what it meant to see all of the C3ers come out to have fun and witness new Christ-followers professing their faith through baptism….

It was beautiful to stand on the beach and witness such a profound declaration….

It was beautiful to see families having time together….

It was beautiful to watch a community of faith connect with each other and deepen their friendships…

It was beautiful to watch children running and playing and learning that church is about love…and can also be about having fun…

It was beautiful to see the gorgeous tapestry of diversity that is C3….it was like a Florida sunset - breathtaking!

Moss Park is special to me. I remember going there as a child. When I hear the cranes, I’m right back…I’m 10 years old all over again. It brings back many happy memories…

Now it’s even more special to me. It forever will remind me of C3…of new Christ-followers being baptised on a day that was supposed to be filled with thunderstorms…of little children laughing and playing…of a church family just being

…and being happy just to be!

It was a day to remember.

Thank you so much to all of you who shared it with me…

Peace.

Same Difference

“Hello, brother-from-another-mother!”

This is what we heard when we finally got to meet our new friends, Joseph and Sola (pronounced “Shola”). We already knew we had much in common ,and seemed to be “kindred spirits”…but we had no idea how truly and deeply we would identify with them…with their journey.

It was eerie, at times, and there were many moments during the evening when Byron could’ve finished Joseph’s sentence, and vice versa - the similarities were both comforting…and heartbreaking. The excitement for the vision God has burned in them was so much like our own…and the path they’ve walked to follow that vision, also like ours:  so full of hope and promise, and so littered with loss and betrayal.

Sola is one cool chic. She’s a couple of years older than I am, but looks a decade younger…

I knew by looking into her eyes that we had an understanding…we’ve been traversing, in many ways, parallel paths - and now we can share our joys…and even compare scars if we feel like it. :-)

We had a blast. It was refreshing and comforting to be in the presence of fellow laborers that needed no explanation from us about our tendency to be “gun shy”…and, after 30 seconds, we knew we were safe. The rest was just like the carrot cake (with rum raisin sauce) that I had for dessert: Phenomenal! :-)

Thanks, Joseph and Sola! This journey is so much more fun with friends like ya’ll to share it with. Blessings…

Peace.
