Happy “Moss Park” Wednesday!

…so, we’ve been working on our “C3 Day at Moss Park“, so we’ve been making several trips out there.

Being a “practical native” (I moved here when I was one) of Central Florida, I am always drawn to the indigenous and undeveloped parts of this area…there are so few left!

At Moss Park, I’m taken back to my childhood, when so much of Central Florida still was covered in palmettos and live oaks with weeping moss…

I’m so glad there are protected areas (thank you, Teddy Roosevelt!) where my children and grandchildren will be able to experience Florida the way that I remember it as a child - wild and untouched…

This morning, we saw a dozen wild turkeys, 10-12 deer and, of course, the red eyed cranes were EVERYWHERE!

So, “C3 Day at Moss Park” (now scheduled for the last Sunday in March - March 30th) will be a beautiful time for our community of faith to unwind and get to know each other in a relaxed setting…it’s going to be an awesome day!!

Pictures are coming soon…

until then:

Happy, Happy Wednesday! :-)
Peace out.

Little Thoughts…

…I promise. this is not my post for the day - I just found these two beautiful quotes, and I thought they would make nice thoughts for the day.

As an aside, my songbirds are mocking me! They are singing up a storm, but each time I try to photograph them, they disappear…but I can still hear them. I think they are having fun being coy.

So here are some beautiful words for the day:

“I’d rather learn from one bird how to sing than to teach ten thousand stars how not to dance.”

“The earth laughs in flowers.” (e. e. cummings)

Just some little thoughts…

I hope you see the beauty all around you today.

Peace.

Return of my Songbirds

they’ve returned.

they’ve forgiven me.

three cardinals.

two blue-jays.

two others i’ll have to look up. (i think they’re sparrows).

they ate, played, sang…acted like this is their home again.

they’ve returned, and all is right with the world…

peace.

Goodbye, Day.

So, I was writing about the sky (beautifully pink and lavender), the cranes (making their final pass across and away), and the crickets and tree frogs (warming up to play through the night).

I knew the beauty of the sunset (the reflection of it…since we’re in the east) was fading fast…

Then I got distracted.

I thought I hit save.

My post faded and disappeared with the beautiful evening sky…

gone.

Oh well, it’s enough that I got to witness it…I can be poetic another day.

Today was a long day - busy, not so much physically, but emotionally and mentally. Draining.

None of the kids have school tomorrow, so we get a reprieve from the early morning “fire drill” before school…we might actually get to sleep in until 6:30 or so.

We’ll probably finish painting the sunroom (I mean “we’ll” figuratively as Byron is the only one who’s actually done any work - I’ve just supervised), then maybe go to the park…

So, another day is winding down.

I do have to say that I’m not too sad to see this one go. It’s just one of those days when I look forward to going into my little nest, closing the curtains, putting on something flannel and unattractive, and just shutting the world out…just a little.

peace.
